HO Scale Replicas Page – ACF 70-ton welded Drop-end Gondola
The 52-6 welded 70-ton drop-end gondola car as produced by ACF is the third all-new model in our HO scale product line. First produced in 1948 for Pennsylvania Railroad as class G31, PRR alone purchased 11,600 welded cars of this body style in the G31/G31A/G31B/G35, serving the “Standard Railroad of the World” in every corner of North America in many customer applications. If you model somewhere in North America, you can use a PRR model! Besides PRR, several other railroads also purchased these gondolas from ACF, and some former PRR cars were purchased second-hand by various railroads. Most of these gondolas were phased from revenue service during the 1990s. Our first product release sold out quickly, and now we are proud to offer you a rerun on the first 3 paint schemes – with ALL NEW road numbers, plus 3 new schemes:
- SOLD OUT: Pennsylvania Railroad G31B in the original 1951 scheme painted PRR Freight Car Red, available in 6 NEW individual road numbers, with road numbers specifically matching the Equipco delivered handbrakes. This is a continuation of our first release of these fine models in 2009, with road numbers matching Universal handrakes.
- NEW: Pennsylvania Railroad G31B in the “plain keystone scheme” in PRR 1960s Freight Car Red, available in 12 individual road numbers! Check out these beauties with 1962 paint dates!
- SOLD OUT: Penn Central G31B in “PC Green” matched to the green offered by the Penn Central Historical Society, available in 6 individual road numbers! We have heard your requests for this model; we now offer you the most accurate PC freight car model out of the box!

RERUN: Southern Pacific G-70-12 in the original 1953 scheme painted SP Freight Car Red, available in 6 NEW individual road numbers! Here is your chance to order additional gondolas to mix and match with your earlier purchased cars. Our SP G-70-12 model comes with the Equipco handbrake, as found on the prototype as built by ACF.

NEW: Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western in the original 1951 scheme in black with the “Road of Anthractite” painted in white, available in 6 individual road numbers! Our DLW model comes with the Equipco handbrake, as found on the prototype as built by ACF.
